The Princess and the Pope

And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Communion Banner

The Princess is making her First Holy Communion this coming Saturday. As a family, we were assigned a project to create a Communion Banner for the Princess. We talked about what she wanted on the banner and decided to get a communion banner kit, rather than trying to make one entirely from scratch. The Princess and I are both very pleased at the way her banner turned out. Good job Princess! You are so crafty!

The finished product. Can't wait to see it hanging in the church on her big day this Saturday~

We're home from our vacation. I haven't updated yet for a couple of reasons.
1. Blogger completely changed their format and it's going to take me a few days to adjust!
2. This is a very busy time for us. The Princess is making her First Communion in 12 days! She was also cast in her school musical, which opens on May 10th. In addition, Mike and I will celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary on May 4th.

Please check back in a few days for vacation photos and highlights!

Field trip!

Yesterday was Pope's preschool field trip to the Children's Museum. I took the day off from work so I could chaperon his trip. I am so glad I did because we had an excellent time at the museum. Here's just a tiny sampling of what we did!

There was a super fun air jet, that would allow a beach ball to "float" in mid air. A very cool display, and Pope enjoyed the wind effect!

The children's museum had a huge "Light Bright" and the Pope, who loves lights, was completely fascinated by it!

Pope is a climber and he especially enjoyed the little rock climbing wall at the museum.

Happiness is...

Practice...

We've been a little too relaxed with O&M lately. And the Pope has become a bit lazy because of it. We've heard friends complain that their child doesn't get enough O&M instruction. Perhaps this is true for the Pope. He gets O&M with a certified instructor, for about an hour, every other week. I don't think any child could get proficient at any task if they only worked at it for an hour every other week. So, in between his instruction, we practice cane skills, orientation skills, walking in a straight line, going up and down steps, etc. It's not the Pope's favorite activity, but we try to make it fun. We use obstacles, go new places like to the park or the mall, all in an effort to get the Pope to walk with confidence. He still has trepidation when the surfaces change (ie. going from carpet to wood floors. He still wants to sit down between thresholds, so we're trying to teach him to use the information from his cane. He is otherwise doing wonderfully well and especially enjoys evening O&M walks outside! Hooray for the warmer weather!
