The Princess and the Pope

And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Let Summer Commence!

We traveled to Cincinnati for a family get-together that included 2 birthdays and a high school graduation. We left on Saturday, drove 10 hours to Cincinnati, then reversed the trip on Tuesday. It was a whirlwind weekend, to say the very least! The Princess and the Pope both deserve a gold medal... they handled the LONG drive like champs! Kudos to both... mom and dad are so proud of you!

Among the fun parties during the weekend, Uncle Rich took everyone for a ride on the Ohio river in his speed boat. He even let the the Princess take the wheel... and she was thrilled!

It was about 95^ F everyday. The sprinkler became a popular place for the littles.

Otis made a great seat!

All the little boys... N, the Pope and E.

The moments I became a mother...

It's Mother's Day. Thank you, Mom for all you've done and continue to do for me. Thank you, Mother Mary, for looking out for us and for your Son, Jesus. And thank you God, for the 2 moments when you allowed me to become a mother...

Award Winning?

I adore my family. I'm not ashamed to say it... and if you lived my life, you wouldn't be ashamed to say it either. My husband is amazing... our marriage is, unusual, but amazing! We have 2 amazing kids... we went 1/2 way around the world and back to add them to our family. Their stories, their spirits, well, even the fact that they are ALIVE is amazing...But I've never considered a photo amazing... Here's the one that others do...
It's photo of Mike's Seeing Eye dog and the Pope. It's cute, yes... but amazing? Hmmm....

Mother's Day

The BEST part of being a mom is having the children to love, nurture and help grow... Things like this are just the icing on the cake...
Happy Mother's day to all the Moms out there! You are special and you are loved!

Love as He loves

My dear sweet girl with the long chestnut brown hair, beautiful almond shaped eyes, winning smile and fancy purple and pink hearing aids,

Discrimination will follow you wherever you go. No matter what you do, there will always be someone who will find you to be wrong for something, for whatever reason. They are going to reject you, even hate you. Your Uncle Brian's friend, Fr. James Martin, wrote this as an evening prayer. I hope it gives you comfort in difficult times such as these...

Dear God, there are some people in your world who really don't like me. Some who even hate me. I know I'm supposed to love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me, but it's hard. Maybe the hardest thing in the Christian life. How did your Son do it? I remember when he preached at the synagogue in Nazareth, and the townspeople rose up in fury at what he said, drove him to the outskirts of town, and tried to throw him off the cliff. But even though the temptation was there, Jesus never repaid evil for evil. Even when he was on the Cross, he forgave. I'll bet it was hard for him, like it's hard for me. He was divine, but he was human, too. Jesus must have had human emotions that were hard to deal with. Help me to be like your Son, and even when I feel like retaliating or taking revenge, help to soften my heart, even towards the person who hates me. Help me to know that when I feel this way, your Son understands me and sends the Spirit to be console me and to increase my love. Never let my heart be closed down, by others or by myself. Give me an open heart, like your Son's.

Have an open heart, my precious girl. Try not to be angry and love as Jesus loved. He loves you... and so do we!
